Maggie is a native of Los Angeles, California. In fact, she is a 7th generation Angeleno and part of the First Century Families of California. Her family’s Camulos Rancho still exists as a historical monument and was recently used in 2020 for the setting for The Perry Mason HBO series.

Maggie was raised in Hancock Park as one of 5 children to Gilbert F. Roswell (a business executive) and Nena Roswell (a board member of the Los Angeles Junior League). She went to Immaculate Heart High School and her family belonged to The Jonathon Club...so how did a girl like this end up in show business? She did her first play at 6 years old and when she heard the applause she was hooked.

Maggie is best known as a 30-year cast member on the Emmy-award winning series The Simpsons.  She received an Emmy and an Annie nomination for her work as Shary Bobbins in The Simpsons’ “sendup” of Mary Poppins. She created the voices of Maude Flanders, Helen Lovejoy, Ms. Hoover, Luann Van Houten and many others.

Maggie has also co-starred on camera in films such as Lost In America, Pretty In Pink, Midnight Madness, Switchback and Silver City. Maggie also starred in the television series The Tim Conway show for CBS (with Tim Conway and Harvey Korman) as well as NBC’s Comedy Break. She has also appeared in over 60 episodic television shows. Maggie worked with director Ralph Bakshi in the animated feature Fire and Ice and sang as a captive penguin in the film The Pebble and The Penguin. Maggie has done on-camera and voiceover work in hundreds of commercials. In addition, she has also written radio spots that have won Clios and Belding awards

With an extensive background in regional theater, Maggie has held the lead role in numerous musicals and plays across the country. She was in Harvey Lembeck’s improvisation group for over 10 years, playing with such luminaries as Robin Williams, John Larouquette, John Ritter and many more. After years with Lembeck, Maggie became a protégé of Viola Spolin (the God Mother of Improvisation). She was directed by Spolin’s son, Paul Sills, in the improvisation hit Sills and Company on Broadway.

Maggie and husband Emmy-nominee Hal Rayle have a recording studio in Denver, Colorado where they are able to record The Simpsons and run Roswell & Rayle Inc., a global audio-entertainment business.

Maggie Roswell also offers private coaching for voiceover, as well as virtual interviews and meet and greets. She has taught classes and seminars in Los Angeles, New York, and Denver. She has worked at UCLA, Starz/Encore, Denver Center Theater, Thespians International, and coached privately for over 20 years.
